Buying a Home in San Diego: Poway

If you’re buying a house in San Diego because of a promotion or new job, your neighborhood will have to be safe enough for working professionals but close enough to downtown to make the morning commute easy. Poway balances these two needs better than any other San Diego neighborhood. Here’s why.

Known as the “City in the Country,” Poway is a perfect place for people who like to get outside. It’s just minutes from the heart of San Diego, but it beats all the other communities within the city limits when it comes to nature. A whopping seven major public parks, complete with hiking and biking trails, .make the town both social and active. On top of that, Poway’s 47,000 residents can also take horseback tours through the award-winning Sycamore Canyon Nature Preserve, which consists of more than 10 square miles of untouched natural habitat.

But the outdoors isn’t the only thing that’s great about Poway. Moms and dads will be happy to know that their kids can get a great education here as well. The Poway Unified School District is consistently rated the best in the city, and Poway High School has graduated big names like David Goeddel and Tom DeLonge. On top of that, the neighborhood is among the safest for children in San Diego.

The best part about Poway, however, has to be the price of San Diego real estate in the neighborhood. A 1400-square-foot house with four bedrooms will cost you about $400,000, which is an absolute steal for such a great location.

If you’re buying a house in San Diego and want to live in a safe neighborhood that’s close to the heart of the city, you can’t do better than Poway. It has everything you’d expect to find in an urban neighborhood, and a few things that you wouldn’t.
