Buying a Home: Best Cities for Young Couples

1-waiting-to-buyWhere are America’s best cities for buying a home for young couples?

Young couples are reportedly buying homes earlier than ever. So if you are one of them, or have a large buyers list of young couples you’d like to help find homes, where should you be looking?

San Diego was recently named the top city for newlyweds according to UT San Diego and Rent.com. Buying a home in San Diego has many advantages that capture the attention of young couples. Aside from outdoor activities and romantic beaches, San Diego is emerging as a great place to work. There are also plenty of options for those planning to upgrade to a larger home when kids enter the picture.

On the East Coast, young couples are increasingly finding Connecticut real estate as a viable alternative. Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven, CT are all blossoming tech communities, attracting great minds and businesses.

New Haven, in particular, recently rocketed up the Milken Institute’s Index to being one of the best cities in the country for job growth. The coastal city is currently undergoing major revitalization developments; each of which are aimed at creating an even more vibrant urban center.

Of course, there may be other cities which are on the radar of young couples and real estate investors that want to serve this demographic. Factors to look at include job growth, types of jobs, how wired the city is, affordability of rent for those not in the market for buying a home yet, activities, and cost of living.

Wherever the current generation of new grads decides to flock to, there has never been a better time for buying a home. Those that do so now will certainly enjoy incredibly affordable housing payments and get the edge on their peers when it comes to financial freedom and wealth building.
