Than Merrill was born in Fresno, CA. In 2001 he graduated from Yale University and then had a short career in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Merrill started his first real estate investment company, CT Homes, LLC in 2004 in New Haven, CT. Since then, the company has acquired and redeveloped hundreds of single family, multi-family, and commercial properties around the country. CT Homes, LLC is now headquartered in San Diego, CA.
Than Merrill is also the CEO and founder of FortuneBuilders, Inc. a real estate educational company located in San Diego, CA. FortuneBuilders conducts numerous real estate educational events across the United States every year. Merrill has a passion for teaching his student and clients how to empower their purpose through financial education. Than Merrill’s idea to share his devotion to entrepreneurship and real estate with aspiring investors is why FortuneBuilders was created.
Merrill founded Grand Coast Capital, a Regulation D. lending fund. Since inception, the company has funded over 400 residential and commercial real estate investment projects around the country, and delivered a double digit return to its investors.
Than Merrill is well known as the star of A&E’s hit TV show “Flip this House” which documented his business as he bought, redeveloped, and resold investment properties.
Merrill is a best selling author of the “E-Myth Real Estate Investor” which he co-wrote with small business expert Michael Gerber. He is also the author of the “Real Estate Wholesaling Bible” published by Wiley.
Additionally, Than Merrill is a sought after public speaker and has shared the stage with the likes of Alan Greenspan, Laura Bush, and Tony Robbins.
Along with his contributions to the real estate and lending industry, Than Merrill actively gives back to the community. He and his wife Cindy (the brains behind the operation) created the nonprofit charity Equal Footing Foundation to help underprivileged children lead healthier lives. Apart from his personal charity, Merrill also spearheaded the creation of FortuneBuilders Gives, the philanthropic arm of FortuneBuilders.
Than Merrill currently resides in San Diego, CA with his wife Cindy, son Tyce, and daughter Sky.
