Buying a Home in San Diego: Encinitas

Do you have a job in San Diego but don’t want to settle in the bustling city? Then look no further than Encinitas. This coastal town, located 25 miles north of America’s Finest City, is the perfect place for commuters to settle down and raise a family.

While the rolling hills and coastal bluffs provide great views for the 60,000 people that call Encinitas home, the city is best known for its flowers – Encinitas is known for growing and shipping ornamental flora, especially poinsettias.

There’s a lot more to do in Encinitas than visit greenhouses, though. The city is also home to several award-winning golf courses and some nationally renowned beaches, like Swami’s Surfing Spot.

After a day in the waves, you can head downtown for some great shopping or check out the historic La Paloma Theater. If you’re a fan of the arts, you can find hundreds of paintings in the downtown art galleries or take classes at one of the town’s art academies.
The city is also home to some of the best schools in the state. There are four different public school districts as well as several prestigious academies and charter schools.

Although Encinitas is a hotspot for San Diego real estate, it can also be very affordable if you know where to look. You can snatch up a three-bedroom home in one of the town’s more modest neighborhoods for less than $500,000 – a steal considering how close you are to the coast. While the low poverty level is great for safety-minded families, it also means that you probably won’t find many foreclosures on the market.

If you’re looking for a great town with a laid-back attitude, Encinitas is the place to be. The excellent beaches and beautiful flowers – and the city’s proximity to downtown San Diego – make it the perfect place for your California dream home.
